First Light, Joshua Tree | Released March 1, 2011 | Edition of 200 | When 19th-century Mormon settlers in the Mojave desert came upon the Yucca Brevifolia, it reminded them of the biblical story of Joshua raising his hands in prayer. The name stuck, and now these are almost universally known as Joshua Trees. The national park by the same name lies within a three hour drive of more than 18 million people, yet not one of them was within several miles at first light this particular day.
