Glacier Crumbs: Near the Canadian border and seemingly at the base of the sky, glaciers still crawl down mountain slopes. Today, only a few of the hundreds of glaciers remain. Those that do are high up in the mountains-- and those might disappear in just over a decade. But the deposits of the glaciers that came before remain. These glacier crumbs are the Canadian Rockies' version of a beach along a frigid alpine lake. As I was setting up this photo, an enormous bull elk emerged from the woods for a drink of water. It was the only sign of life I'd seen for quite a while that evening, and it made a perfect close to a very peaceful day. | Edition of 200 | Released July 2007.
